The 2026 Owen Withee girls softball team will look to be more competitive this season. Last season we failed to win a game, but had a team of very young girls getting their first taste of varsity experience. This season we have 14 girls out, with three seniors, one junior, and five sophomores and freshman each. The girls are looking to build off of the experience they gained last season and carry it over into this year.
The three seniors who will lead the team this year are Lilli Stinson, Isabella Lewallen, and Lydia VanArk. Each are four-year players who hope to end their careers on a high note. Lilli and Isabella will handle most of the pitching responsibilities and Lydia will hold down first base.
Returning sophomores include Reegan Ruggles, Violet Poehler, and Neveah Baures. All three gained experience last year and have already taken big leaps forward this season. New sophomore additions include Joselyn LaRock and Tinley Penny who are welcome additions and have been doing a great job so far this season. The five freshmen have been working really hard during the first couple weeks of practice and some have been fighting to earn spots in the starting lineup.
We started out a little slow losing our first three games but made steady improvement in each game. We got our first win of the season April 9 in a 17-7 game at Bruce.
