In the Owen-Withee Girls Varsity basketball home opener, the Blackhawks took on the Beavers of Augusta. The girls got out to an early start with some great steals by the Blackhawk defense, allowing Geneva Capetillo to get some easy buckets in transition. From there the girls were able to get the offense rolling leading the Beavers 23-14 heading into the break.
In the second half it was the defense that really shone for the Hawks, allowing them to go on a 23-1 run with the Beavers not making their first field goal until the 3:05 mark. Macy Devine went on a scoring terror shooting 3-3 on three pointers in the final three minutes of the game. Geneva Capetillo was the leading scorer for the Hawks with 12 points.
The Hawks advanced to 1-0 in their first game, beating Augusta 54-23.
