The Blackhawks also had two golfers compete at the junior varsity level. Freshman Sydnee Ruggles led Owen-Withee’s JV competitors with a round of 67 placing 17th, while junior Reegan Ruggles followed with a 70, placing 19th.
Coach Wade Hatlestad shared more after scores were in.
“The Bloomer tournament went very well for the first one of the season,” he said. “It took a couple holes for the girls to settle the nerves, but then they got into their groove. A lot of these girls are just starting in the sport, so they're still learning the rules and etiquette. Our goals in the first match were to learn the routines and expectations, meet some of the opponents they'll be golfing with this season, and to have fun. I think we accomplished that.”
