O-W Golf fields a full team this season

Last year Owen-Withee didn’t have enough golfers to field a team, but Quinn Hatlestad was able to make it to sectionals as an individual. Hatlestad returns for the Hawks in the hopes of having team success in addition to individual success.

“Goals for the year would be to make it to sectionals as a team,” explains Head Coach Josh Jalling, “Our regional is in Mondovi and if we continue to get better every match, this is a reasonable expectation.”

Jalling also hopes that Hatlestad can take the next step, “[my goal is] for our senior golfer Quinn Hatlestad to make a strong run to make it to state.”

But with five new golfers out this season, inexperience could provide a hurdle for the Hawks.

“Our biggest obstacle will be our inexperience,” says Jalling, “We have five new kids out this season. They have played golf before but will be new to the match experience. I look for us to get better as the season goes on and be playing our best golf at the end.”

Even though they might be inexperienced, Jalling is glad to be able to field a full team this season. After having only two golfers out last season, the team is up to seven.

“It’s really nice to see the golf program growing this year,” says Jalling.

In addition to Hatlestad, Ellie Petersen also returns this season. They are joined by new golfers Colin Fritz, Preston Fritz, Evelyn Larson, Sam Rasmussen, and Jack Wendler.t
