Old School features Grandma’s Recipes

Everything Grandma made tasted so good.

Some of her descendants lucky enough to have those recipes will share them in the Old School Gym, Saturday, July 13.

Available will be tastings of the special foods and recipes for the taking.

Laurie Fritz Shilts remembers her family’s schaum tortes and cream puffs. The schaum tortes were made only when the chickens were producing lots of eggs.

Noel Barteck’s grandmother Elsie Bradley decided all her grandsons would know how to cook. He makes schaum tortes, too, and chocolate eclairs among lots of other treats.

Joan Kovatch recalls a delicious and unusual macaroni and banana dish her grandma made and she loved as a child.

Ashley Kroeplin says her young family still enjoys her grandmother’s beet jelly, especially with peanut butter.

Jackie Reinke remembers fondly her grandmother’s rice pudding always served in a special dish. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have that recipe, if grandmother even used a recipe.

That’s what makes Grandma’s recipes so special—so many did not use recipes or need them.

If you have a special Grandma recipe, please let us know and bring it to the Gym during the Fair. Call 715-229-2362 or 715-229-2269.
