The Oriole varsity volleyball team headed to UW-Stout in Menomonie on Friday and Saturday last week, coming away with a 5-2 record over two days.
Friday competition saw three wins and one loss, while Saturday saw one loss and two wins in tournament play.
Orioles head coach Karley Wiensch shared more after results.
“Overall the weekend was a good one," she said. “We finished with a 5-2 record over the two days. We lost to Hudson (D1) Friday to finish pool play and then we were seeded 10th out of 40 for Saturday and ended up playing Saint Croix Falls (D3), who is also in our Section this year.”
Scores for all games for Friday and Saturday are as follows:
Friday:
vs. Hayward: won 25-13, 25-6
vs. Turtle Lake: won 21-25, 27-25, 15-6
vs. Baldwin-Woodville: won 25-19, 25-15
vs. Hudson: lost 18-25, 21-25
Saturday:

Wiensch added that Kelly Lew had scored her 1,000th career kill, meaning an attack that is not returnable by the receiving player and leads to directly to a point or loss of rally, also saying the girls had played well together.
“While playing in our last match on Saturday vs. Columbus Catholic, Kelly Lew was able to record her 1,000th career kill!”
“The girls played well together and it was an overall good weekend for only being our 2nd tournament of the year. We ended up finishing 9th out of 40. I am proud of the girls and what they accomplished playing together this weekend!
As for the season looking forward, Wiensch said the team was headed to Durand and Marshfield next.
“We have a Durand quad on Sept. 3 and then travel to Marshfield (Columbus Catholic tournament) on Sept. 5 this coming week,” she said.
