Owen “Autumnfesters” had hot day for chili tasting

Another Autumnfest sponsored by the Owen Downtown Revitalization Committee and the Owen-Withee Area Chamber of Commerce was celebrated at the Owen Mill Pond Park on September 28. The festivities began with the Farmer’s Market from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., which was the last market of the season. Americana-Folk musician Eric Podeweltz sang and played his guitar on the stage while visitors enjoyed the unseasonably warm fall weather and took part in tasting and judging the chili. Carol Devine engineered the Blackhawk Express and gave free rides to all who wished to climb aboard Owen’s electric train.

Seeing no willing contestants for the apple pie eating contest, the apple pies were then sold by the pie. After all had cast their votes for the best chili, 1st place went to Adam Carr, 2nd place was Ken and Sally Martine and 3rd place was Tim Swiggum. The top three were rewarded with Owen-Withee Area Chamber Bucks.
