Now in full swing, the Owen Withee boys varsity golf season is off to a good start.

“We took first in the Cadott match,” coach Josh Jalling said of last week at Whispering Pines. “I’d say I'm really proud of how fast they are improving. I figured we would win some matches this season but I didn't think it would happen this quick.”

Playing the front nine against the East Cloverbelt the Blackhawks took top spot with a score of 198 overall, followed by Columbus Catholic with 202, Neillsville with 207, Stanley-Boyd with 208, and Colby with 213. Individual scores for Owen-Withee at Cadott were Jack Wendler 46, Quinn Hatlestad 49, Colin Fritz 51, Sam Rasmussen 52, and Preston Fritz 60.

Competing at Meadowview two days earlier the Blackhawks placed third overall with a team score of 211, with Quinn Hatlestad taking best score for Owen-Withee at 44.

The Blackhawks next compete Tuesday May 7 at River’s Edge Golf Course in Marshfield. Play starts at 11 a.m.
