On December 17, the JV Blackhawks traveled to Augusta and defeated the Beavers in overtime 58-54. A big reason was that the Hawks shot 91% from the line making 20 of 22 for the game. The Hawks held a 22-17 lead at the half on 8 of 23 shooting from the field and getting eight steals. The Beavers would go on a run against the Blackhawks in the second half, taking a 43-34 lead at the 5:10 mark. But the Hawks' pressure would get them back in it, going on a 12-5 run. With the score 48-46, Talon Mueller's driving lay-up tied the game at 48 with 10 seconds left sending it to overtime. In overtime with the game tied at 53 all, Nick Dambeck had a big rebound basket to put the Hawks up for good 55-53. Nick would then hit 2 free throws and Aaron Sanchez hit one to seal it. Talon Mueller and Preston Fritz both had a big night scoring 22 and 24 points respectively and Steve Negron had 9 rebounds. Our bench play was big with Carter Lindgren, Troy Sherwood and Austin Yeager giving tough minutes on defense as the Hawks got 9 second half steals. Great Job!
