Five to compete at State

On Thursday, May 11, 2024 the Owen-Withee High School Track and Field athletes competed in the WIAA sectional track meet in Cameron. It was a beautiful night for a track meet, and the Trackhawks competed well in both individual and relay events. In order to advance to the WIAA state track meet, athletes must place in the top four at sectionals.

We had many PR's and excellent performances across the board: Cassidy Graski placed 12th in the 100m hurdles; Keyton DeGroot placed 10th in the 110m hurdles; Brandon Geldernick placed 8th in the 100m dash and ran a personal best time of 11.48; Dominic Sherwood got 14th place in long jump; Vincent Henke placed 6th in the 200m dash; Madi Mueller placed 11th in pole vault, with a personal best of 9 feet, and placed 10th in the 800m run. Narrowly missing a trip to the state meet, Kendall Weiler placed 5th in the 300m hurdles while breaking our school record (again), and Colton Paczkowski placed 5th in the 1600m run with a new personal best of 4:32.38.

Five competitors advanced to the state track meet at UW-LaCrosse in three separate events: Mason Gay and Colton Paczkowski placed 2nd and 4th, respectively, in the 800m run, and a relay team consisting of Vincent Henke, Mason Gay, Dominic Sherwood, and Brandon Geldernick in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, placing 2nd and 4th, respectively. These athletes will compete at UW-LaCrosse on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1.

Come down to watch some incredible performances from athletes all across the state! Go Trackhawks!
