Redhawks drop Wildcats 19-0

Win follows victory over Neillsville at Thorp 10-6

The Thorp/Owen-Withee Redhawks varsity baseball team picked up two wins last week, defeating Neillsville/Granton 10-6 on Thursday, May 7, before rolling to a 19-0 shutout over the Northland Lutheran Wildcats on Friday, May 8.

Against Neillsville/Granton, the Redhawks collected 11 hits and pulled away with a four-run sixth inning to secure the 10-6 win.

Cooper Rosemeyer led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Nolan Petersen added two hits and an RBI. Tegan Treankler also had two hits and drove in a run.

Nolen Luzinski scored twice and knocked in two runs, while Rak Werner added two RBIs. Isaiah Pyrchalla scored two runs and doubled, and Evan Penterman added a hit and a run scored.

Thorp/Owen-Withee totaled seven extra-base hits in the game. Rosemeyer, Pyrchalla and Werner each doubled, while Petersen and Treankler each contributed two total bases. The Redhawks also stole a base, with Petersen swiping one.

Pyrchalla started on the pitcher’s mound, pitching four innings with six strikeouts. Penterman earned the win in relief, allowing no hits over the final three innings while striking out one.

The Redhawks carried the momentum into Friday’s matchup with Northland Lutheran, taking off for 19 runs in a 19-0 victory shortened to five innings.

Thorp/Owen-Withee scored eight runs in the second inning and seven more in the third while finishing with 12 hits. Northland Lutheran managed just one hit in the contest.

Penterman had a huge game offensively, going 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Pyrchalla added two hits and scored three runs, while Clay Mueller collected two hits and scored twice.

Petersen crossed the plate three times and added an RBI, while Treankler drove in three runs. Rosemeyer added a hit and RBI, and Peyton Reynolds drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

On the pitcher’s mound, Rosemeyer earned the win after striking out five over three innings while allowing one hit. Peyton Reynolds pitched the final two innings without allowing a hit and struck out four.

Over the two games, the Redhawks combined for 29 runs and 23 hits while improving with dominant offensive performances and solid pitching efforts.

The week brings the Redhawks record to 2-10, with a game against Spencer at Spencer High School on Thursday, May 14. Game start is 5 p.m.
