The Thorp/Owen-Withee Redhawks opened their season late last month, with games against Assumption March 31, Augusta April 9, and Stanley-Boyd on April 10 at Oriole Park. Currently 0-3 for the season, the Redhawks started the game Friday at Stanley-Boyd with a double by Isaiah Pyrchalla to get on the board in the top of the first. The Orioles tied the game in the bottom of the second with two runs of their own, with the Redhawks making 13 hits with eight runs and four batted in. Clay Mueller stole home in the top of the fifth to put points on the board, with Rak Werner making a single.
Cooper Rosemeyer singling to right field in the top of the sixth and Pyrchalla making it home. Back and forth between the Orioles and Redhawks left the Redhawks in the lead 8-7 before the Orioles pulled ahead with eight runs to clinch the final score 15-8. Nolan Petersen led the Redhawks with three hits in four at bats, with Werner, Evan Penterman and Rosemeyer each collecting multiple bases. Rosemeyer, Nolen Luzinski, Petersen, and Mueller each stole multiple bases as well.
The Redhawks now face the Colfax Vikings on Friday, April 17 at Colfax High School. Game start is 5:00 p.m.
