On February 15, the Owen-Withee Sports and Entertainment Management Class (SEM) is hosting a concert featuring Chris Kroeze with Stanley native Brady Luke singing in the preshow. Doors will be open at 5:30 p.m. at the OWHS gym. General admission, VIP and floor seating tickets are on sale online at www.chriskroezemusic.com or from SEM teacher Caleb Green. Green said that 100 tickets out of 1,000 available have already been sold.
Green said that he was impressed with both performers and admired “The Voice” Runner-up Kroeze for his community involvement.
“Chris Kroeze was runner-up on “The Voice” and actually is from Barron, Wisconsin,” said Green. “He was active in FFA up there. So, we have some tie-ins to CTOS Career and Technical Student Organizations, and he just has been a good community member. I follow him on social media. He was at the Barron girls’ basketball game last night. He's very involved in his community still. And you know, his agent said even though he wants to be a big star, he keeps small town roots. His agent was talking with us about how he really enjoys doing these smaller events and is excited to come in and do this event. It should be quite a good time and bringing fun energy to it.”
The opening act, Brady Luke, has recorded in Nashville and has opened for the likes of Craig Morgan, Rodney Atkins and Jo Dee Messina.
Six students have learned a lot about organizing and planning for a large community event.
“Planning seating has been a challenge,” said Green of the student’s participation. “Like how to set our layout in the gym, and they had a couple struggles with formatting the flyer, hanging up flyers where we want to go, and that kind of stuff. So, it's really encompassed everything we kind of talked about in this class so far.”
The students also contacted local sponsors and appreciate all their support. The SEM class will also have financial backing and help from the FBLA.
“It’s a great Valentine's Day gift,” Green suggested, “if anybody needs a gift for themselves and their significant other. The music starts at 7:30 with Chris and an opening act at 6:15 with Brady Luke. It should be a good fun night of music entertainment.”
