The Thorp/Owen-Withee girl wrestlers competed Friday, February 13 at Edgar, coming away with sectional qualifiers.
Leah Simenson (21-9) took second in the 132-pound weight class, winning the second place match by fall (F 3:07) over Wynn Schoenherr (30-7) to earn a spot in the Sectionals at DC Everest this weekend.
Also earning a place at sectionals was Abigail Zaszczurynski (8-6), who won the second place match by rule over Brianna Paul (4-16) of Stanley-Boyd in the 145-pound weight class. Taylor Vetterkind (1-12) finished third in the 114-pound weight class with a bye, while Kyanna Gwiazda (12-16) won the fourth place match by rule over Jaelyn Podeweltz (7-14) of Mosinee.
The Thorp/Owen-Withee Boys competed at the Independence/Gilmanton Regional February 14, Evan Penterman finishing sixth in the 190-pound weight class with 10 points and Jordon Wulff finishing seventh in the 185-pound weight class with four points.
The girls varsity wrestling sectional for Thorp/Owen Withee will take place Friday, February 20 at DC Everest High School at 5:00 p.m.
