Trackhawk relay team takes second at state

The Owen-Withee Trackhawks had some strong performances at the WIAA State Track and Field Meet Friday and Saturday in La Crosse.
The 4x400 meter relay team had an impressive couple days at the meet. The combination of Brandon Geldernick, Dominic Sherwood, Colton Paczkowski and Mason Gay captured second place in earning a spot on the podium. Their combined time was 3:25.63. Marathon came out on top in the event, finishing in 3:24.60.
Overall, the Owen-Withee boys team took 23rd at the meet, which was won by Marathon.
Other strong finishes for the O-W boys:
•Paczkowski earned a podium spot in the 800 meters, finishing in sixth place in 1:56.86.
•Geldernick took eighth in the 200 meter dash. He qualified Friday with a time of 22.49, and finished in 22.45 in the finals. He also competed in the 100 meter dash.
•Gay ran a 41.94 in the 300 meter hurdles preliminaries, good for 11th place in his heat.
•The Trackhawk 800 relay team of Talon Mueller, Sam Wells, Gay and Paczkowski took 11th in 8:18.41.
•Sullivan Poehler was 11th in the discus with a throw of 137-08.
For the Owen-Withee girls, Kendall Weiler competed in the 300 meter hurdles. She qualified with a time of 46.13 and took eighth overall in the finals.
The O-W girls team of Kayla Rasmussen, Madi Mueller, Cassidy Graski and Weiler competed in the preliminaries in the 4x400 relay, finishing in 4:14.11.
