The annual ice fishing contest and jamboree at Miller Dam will soon be back, arriving Saturday, Jan. 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Miller Dam Lake, also known as the Chequamegon Waters Flowage.
Put on by the Miller Dam Lake Association at a county park located at N4664 County Highway G, the once a year contest will have plenty to see, eat, and do, made possible with support from an array of community minded sponsors.
Included with the Miller Dam Lake fishing contest Jan. 25 are food and refreshments, a prize raffle, walk around raffles, and door prizes, all in a heated shelter. Did we mention FREE ice fishing rods and reels to the first 100 children, starting at 9 a.m.?
Included in the food choices (but not limited thereto) are bratwurst and pulled pork, with prize raffle items including several guns, an ice auger, and an electric bike.
As for the fishing contest, the first place winner in both the adult and children’s contest will be entered in a drawing for $250, with six categories of fish in all. Those six categories are northern pike, walleye, bass (large or smallmouth), bluegill, crappie, and perch.
Located north of Gilman off Highway 73, Miller Dam Lake is the place to be on Saturday, Jan. 25. More information on the contest can be found at www.millerdamlakeassoc.com or by calling either 715-447-8524 or 715-314-2035. Signs will direct the way from Highway 73, with all proceeds from the contest staying on the lake to maintain and improve the area.
