I want to congratulate Chad Smith, city of Owen DPW in being recognized as the wastewater operator of the year in the state of Wisconsin. After being Mayor for two years and working with Chad, it's obvious that he cares about our community and works tirelessly to gain the knowledge to operate our wastewater plant in the most efficient way. He does this in a very humble way, stating that he couldn't do this without having a great DPW group to work with. Thank you, Chad, for all of your hard work and dedication.
Next, I would like to congratulate Coach Russ Weiler and his staff on leading the boys basketball team to co-champions of the conference. Congratulations also goes out to the boys who earned all-conference honors. Good luck to you and your team in the upcoming boys regional playoffs.
Another congratulations goes out to Coach Josh Jalling and his staff for a great season finishing second in the conference and winning back-to-back regional championships. Also, congratulations to the girls who earned all-conference honors. Good luck to you and the girls in your upcoming sectionals.
It's wonderful to see all of the community support. This is what's so great about living in a small community. I'm hoping that this great community support will carry over into our Centennial celebrations, the first one being April 26 with a tree planting dedication to the city and cake and ice cream to follow. There will also be a ceremony to open up a time capsule that was filled back in 2000 when the city celebrated 75 years. So come out and see what we will find.
Have a good week. Until next time.
