The Blackhawks battled a poor shooting night for the entire game against the Abbotsford Falcons and made a run at the end to put the game into overtime, but unfortunately lost 66-63.
Abbotsford came out hot, hitting from long range and grabbing an early lead forcing the Hawks to work their way back. Some strong offensive possessions and key shots from Mason Gay and Colin Fritz got the Hawks headed in the right direction. The Hawks made up for some poor shooting by hitting the offensive boards, however some careless turnovers gave the Falcons the chance to keep the lead. The Hawks trailed 32-28 at the half.
The game continued to be a fast paced game in the second half with both teams forcing turnovers and taking advantage of miscues. The Blackhawks found themselves down by 12 points late and then made a possession by possession comeback with Gay hitting a layup with less than eight seconds left to put the Hawks within 2. After a foul, the Falcons made one of two and led by three. The Hawks took a timeout with three seconds left at half court. Out of the timeout, the Blackhawks executed the play perfectly that allowed Dominic Sherwood the chance for the game tying three-pointer. Dominic hit it at the horn to force overtime. Unfortunately the Hawks came up short in overtime and lost 66-63.
The Blackhawks had 23 steals in the game, but also 23 turnovers as well and shot 35% for the game.

Coach's Comments
We just didn't get a rhythm on offense, sometimes we were playing too fast and weren't on the same page, even though we had good shots all night, they just didn't fall. It is still early season shooting as we are finding more practice time with the late start this year.
We always show heart as our guys never panicked and knew that we would battle back and give ourselves a chance to win, and we had that chance.
