You don’t realize how much you rely on the internet until you start having issues with it. I use it not only for work, but for TV as I don’t have an antenna on the roof.
On Sunday, May 17, my internet went out. I called Brightspeed on Monday. They scheduled an appointment to fix it, but said they couldn’t come until Thursday. They then said I was part of a larger outage and canceled the appointment. The next text said it was fixed. I called them back and said it wasn’t. They scheduled another Thursday appointment with a technician. That was also canceled with them telling me I was part of a larger outage.
The new day for the outage to be repaired was Wednesday, May 20. That turned into Friday, May 22 and is currently, Wednesday, May 27. I’m not holding out much hope for that either. And if they are not providing service for almost two weeks, I am looking for a credit on my bill, too.
I’m sure I will be making more phone calls to them. I know I won’t be paying them any more money until I have working internet. I also know I will be filing a complaint against them with DATCP. Maybe the government can motivate them to get their act together.
Fortunately, I have been able to limp along by logging into the internet in my apartment building. For some reason that reaches my apartment and is generally faster than Brightspeed, even on the days it is working.
There was a day when customer service met something and if you told someone you needed a service to do your job, they went above and beyond to get your service fixed. Apparently, that is no longer the case.
I am checking into 5G internet from various companies. Some sound like they work better than others. If anyone has any experience with these services, I would love to hear from you about how well they work. Sounds like Starlink provides great service, but won’t work well from inside an apartment. So that probably isn’t an option.
I would love it if there was another option available for apartment dwellers who don’t live in an area where Spectrum provides service. Let’s hear your suggestions.
