The Blackhawks could not survive a cold shooting night against the hosting Dons of Marshfield Columbus and lost by a final score of 70-48.

The Blackhawks' offense started out slow in the first half and fell behind the Dons, 7-1, early. A Jack Wendler basket helped the offense and later a Winston Poehler three-pointer got it to 10-6. A rebound putback by Clay Mueller continued the offense for the Hawks. A few more free throws and a hoop by Preston Fritz and the Blackhawks went into halftime trailing by thirteen, 31-18.

A couple of steals early by the Hawks stopped the Dons from scoring but the Blackhawks were not able to convert. With the Blackhawks trailing by 20, they made a solid run, scoring on 13 of 18 possessions. Hoops by Wendler and Poehler got it going, and later Fritz and Clay Mueller would find Wendler inside again on back-to-back possessions. A Sam Wells driving lay-in, followed by a Poehler three cut into the lead. The Dons however would match the Hawks' offensive output as they kept the Hawks from making a comeback. Late hoops by Clay and Talon Mueller weren't able to help as the Blackhawks lost, 70-48.

The Blackhawks outrebounded the Dons 39-35 and had 16 turnovers compared to the Dons' 12.

Coach's Comments

We came out and got behind early, but made a run back at them as we got the shots we wanted, but too many that we just didn't connect on. We were able to hit an offensive stride in the second half but could not come up with enough stops.
