At a recent conference deans meeting with our new bishop, he asked us what we are looking forward to in September. I had a ready answer – I am soooo looking forward to our Drawn to the Word all parish worship on Sunday, September 22, 10 a,m, at Our Savior’s Lutheran in Greenwood. During this worship time, Artist and Pastor Paul Oman will paint a larger-than-life sized mural of “Faith Like a Child” before your eyes. The story will unfold artistically, musically, narratively and Scripturally during the event. In the nearly 20 years of his Drawn to the Word ministry, this will be Paul’s first time painting the theme of “Faith Like a Child.” All are invited to join us. We will begin coffee and fellowship time at 9 a.m. We are taking a freewill offering to cover the cost of the event, with all additional proceeds going to local food pantries. If you are unable to join us in person, we will be livestreaming the event. You may find our livestream link on our parish website: www.oneinchristlutherans.com.

This will be my third time seeing Paul paint live during worship. Anyone else I’ve met who has experienced him or another artist in this way is similarly in awe – of the artist, but more so in awe of the Holy Spirit at work through them and in the people gathered. I also encourage you to check out Paul’s website and Facebook page. Both have videos and images that inspire and draw one into God’s Word. Paul has tips for increasing the use of visual arts in your worship and faith life as well. Website: www.drawn-to-the-word.com and on Facebook at facebook.com/DrawnToTheWordPaulOmanFineArt.
