Looking forward to a unified nation

On the evening of July 13th, 2024, news came out about something that occurred during a political rally.  I watched the video of the incident and was shocked at how things unfolded for the speaker, Donald Trump.  It struck me that it was an instance in which a person avoided death by one of the narrowest margins ever caught on live camera.  The bottom line is that this is now history, and it occurred, and it is done... And there is going to be a very deep investigation into the situation.

A few days later, as I'm watching the news, I'm seeing two very different sides of reaction... One side has taken the situation and used wording such to make it sound like an age-induced infirmity was what had Mr. Trump removed from that event.  Most of those have been taken down and or redacted since.  The more important thing that I'm seeing and am encouraged to see is the mass recognition that it's time to be more unified as a nation.

In my years as a voting citizen, I've not been a very satisfied customer.  I admit it!  I've been disappointed at every turn!  But as an American citizen, I'm always impressed at how amazing our nation's people are.  The vast majority of us are absolute treasures, who are hardworking, honest, and striving to be the best they can be.  And even if we don't necessarily "get along" or "like" people, we don't want to see harm come to them.  We often wish there could be some way to eliminate the issue and come together.

Things being discussed this way, and the way it is being handled by a great many upstanding people on all sides, has occurred before.  It occurred before the Abraham Lincoln presidency.  That was a troubling time for our nation, but we came out of it in a far better place in the end.  I don't know or care who will be our next President, because I am confident that our nation's choice will be made very solidly.  (I'm not trying to predict that, it just feels like that will be the outcome to me, at this point.)  And I'm looking forward to seeing our nation standing back up and becoming more united from here forward.

And that will be a sight to behold.  I can't wait to see it!  Because I know there are so many good Americans out there, and we have things to do.  And all of what we're doing will uplift this nation, and everyone in it.
