This past weekend, we held our second centennial celebration. The day started out with horse pulls, which were well attended. Then we filled the time capsules but if anyone has anything to add, they have until September 7 at the Owen Junior Fair before they will be locked for the next 25 years. Marshall Star Band featuring Wally Pietrzen put on a fantastic show. They wrapped up their performance with the National Anthem leading into Big Daddy's Fireworks show which had the crowd cheering loudly for the awesome display of fireworks. A special thank you goes out to our very first Miss Owen, Kathy (Zukowski) Pszeniczny and Pam (Decker) Lobacz for entertaining the crowd with their Owen trivia. Thank you also to everyone who volunteered their time to help make this event a success.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 16 for the next centennial celebration which will feature lumberjack shows at noon, 2 and 4 and there will be no admission charged thanks to Prevail Bank sponsoring these shows.
Until next time, have a good week.
