This year the Owen-Withee School District will be having a book mobile making stops in Owen and Withee. July 9th begins their summer reading program lead by OWHS teacher Nichole Hougard. This program is part of her training to become an IMC specialist. Hougard also taught a library summer school class to help fulfill her elementary school experience.

The summer reading program begins July 9th and aims to prevent kids from falling into the “summer slide” by reading throughout the summer. Reading goals for ages 7 and under are 25 or more books and for ages 8 and up, its 900 minutes (30 minutes per weekday) or more over the summer. The book mobile will be out and about on July 9, July 23, August 6 and August 20, 11 a.m.-noon at the Owen Mill Pond Park and 1-2:20 p.m. at the Withee Lion’s Park. During these stops there will be activities and prizes will be given out for meeting summer reading milestones. Rural stops are available upon request. For more information call Nichole Hougard at 715-229-2151 ex. 1242 or email: nhougard@owk12.org.
