A Moment With the Mayor

I was recently approached about the condition of the playground equipment at the Mill Pond Park. I explained that the city didn't have it in their budget at this time and that she should check with other organizations that donate money for these projects. Since then, I reached out to the Forestry and Parks supervisor for Clark County and he's going to get me some information on grant opportunities that could be available for playground equipment for parks.

Also, recently it was brought to my attention that Willow Road (North Road) is deteriorating. I have also been told that somehow this road became the property of the City of Owen. I will look into this and see if we can resolve this issue.

The Centennial Committee and I would like to remind everyone that our next celebration is Saturday, July 19. The day will start with horse pulls. At 5:00 we will be accepting items to be put in the time capsule to be opened in 2050. Marshall Star Band featuring Wally Pietrzen will be performing from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. followed by Big Daddy's fireworks. All events will be held at the Millpond Park and the food stand and beer stand will also be open to the public. Contact me if you're willing to volunteer to work in either of these two areas.

Have a good week. Until next time.
