On October 1, the Owen-Withee volleyball team held a Crisis Fund Night. The fund is used to have money in case anything happens in our community or surrounding communities such as a house fire, tornado, or serious illness. They had raffle baskets donated by parents, surrounding businesses, and school organizations. They also held a 50/50 raffle that ended up being donated back with a total of $424. The raffle baskets also had a good outcome raising $683. The total of both of those is a whopping $1,107.
While the fundraiser went well, the outcome of the game was lacking. The volleyball team had a conference matchup against the Colby Hornets. The first set was a tough one. The ladies struggled to get the ball to hit the floor and receive a serve. The first set ended in an 11-25 loss. The second set started with a little bit more fire. The girls were starting to figure it out a little more, but they still couldn’t catch back up. The set ended with a 17-25 defeat. The third set was a make-or-break. If they won, they could try to push to a fifth just like they did against Loyal. The girls had a tight game but their mistakes were just too much and they lost 23-25. This was a tough loss for the girls.
